Jane Turriff is one of Scotland's most remarkable singers.
Of Traveller stock, she sets great store by the oral tradition
of stories and songs with which she was brought up. Even now,
in her eighties, she longs for the freedom of the road. Her
songs range from ancient ballads, picked up from her mother
Christina, a powerful singer, to country and western classics
of the 30s and 40s, such as Jimmie Rogers's yodelling songs.
