S: Prefaced by remarks from Robbie Shepherd on the relevance
of Greig's work. IO talks about helpful descendants of Greig. Greig
put all his energy into the Whitehill school, and did not take up
folk song for 25 years. He decided to write local plays, in local
dialect, perhaps a bold move for the time. He wrote three more that
are now missing. Newspapers were desperate for serial novels; Greig
sent novels to the Peterhead Sentinal and the Buchan Observer. Greig
wanted to give North East people the idea that their area was an
important part of the world.
